Over the past several years, the City of Hattiesburg has engaged in numerous activities to improve the city's overall infrastructure.  Employing the expertise of engineers, scientist and both state and federal agencies, it has worked to find the most sustainable solutions to upgrading the City’s current water and wastewater systems.

This site has been created to inform concerned citizens about upcoming projects, give updates on current projects, and provide information for those who may have additional concerns.

In order to address these issues, three treatment alternatives have been outlined,

- Mechanical treatment facility

- Mechanical polishing facility

- Land application facility

Each of these proposed alternatives would keep the city in compliance with current nutrient limits.

However, each of them has varying benefits and cost. Which long-term solution city officials select will depend heavily on the opinion of Hattiesburg residents. This is an investment in the city’s future and one that will affect everyone who enjoys the convenience of sewer service to their homes and businesses.
